Artist Perks

WELCOME TO POTENTIAL 2010 WINDSOR FRINGE ARTISTS!

2009 Windsor International Fringe Festival Theatre Festival attendance 2009 was 17,100! Over $32, 000 was returned to participating artists!

Three key factors made this possible:
  1. There is extraordinary interest in the Fringe on both sides of the Detroit river as the Windsor Fringe because of a startling 27 theatre companies for a population of 420,000 people an extra ordinary amount of theatre per capital makes Windsor a theatre town.
  2. The School of Drama at the University of Windsor consistently ranking in the top three theatre schools in Canada and the three-year old Music Theatre and Entertainment Technology programs at St. Clair College under the direction of theatre professional Katherine Kazsas.
  3. The City of Detroit on just over the Detroit River from the downtown core has multiple theatre degree programs and theatre schools, has a great interest in starting their own festival, and have been excellent about promoting our festival.

Lots of excitment on tap for the Windsor Fringe in 2010! More international artists coming to us from everywhere in the world from Cuba to Israel . As usual, the Windsor Fringe a great experience for all our artists, with all the personal attention and support we can muster, and lots of artists perks to boot! (Free Billets or great hotel rates right downtown near the venues, $5 daily artist buffet, opening bash, nightly Fringe-pub-crawl with Theatresports, and a variety of entertainment, at different bar/eatery each night (participating artists get first drink free) in our safe and friendly downtown core each night, free shoulder massages, rehearsal space and yoga classes.) mean that artists enjoy preferential treatment while in town.

It is possible to walk the distance between all 4 venues in 15 minutes, because they are all in the downtown core, which is nestled along the Detroit River, with no venue situated more than four blocks up from our waterfront: 5 miles of manicured parkland, running along the Detroit river - with a bike/running path, the Odette sculpture park, a pond, beautiful trees and a waterfront Bistro - which is a pleasure to walk or rest in, and a safe place to be day or night.

We also have an incredible sponsorship network in place, with TV, Radio, commercials, busbenches and newspaper ads for the Fringe in the Windsor Star, The Metro Times in Michigan and Le Rempart our French local weekly paper and 75,000 copies of our official guide, the word gets out early and often.

The Windsor Fringe…Something to think about!

The Canadian Association of Fringe Festivals is built on four principles:

  1. No Artistic Direction. Artists are selected by ‘first come, first served’.
  2. No Censorship. Artists have complete freedom to present their work.
  3. Accessibility to artists. Anyone can apply to the Fringe.
  4. Accessibility to audience. Ticket prices are kept low and 100% of the ticket price is returned to the artists you see on stage.
